Introducing Prakriti Chandra

We named our little angel “Prakriti Chandra”. Prakriti means “natural” and "primal" in Sanskrit. Origin: Prakrit is the name for the group of languages spoken in Ancient India. The meaning that really captivated me was ‘derived from an original’.

We were kind of definite about the first name “Prakriti” (if it’s a baby girl) as soon as we planned to have a baby :-) As you can see, it’s a combination of my wife’s name and mine: Prakash+Karthika. And, the middle name “Chandra” which is named after my mom, was decided even before that. Chandra (Sanskrit: lit. "Shining") is a lunar deity.

The intrinsic properties of my wife's name and my name typifies "light". So, we made sure our baby's name should also be on those lines. We figured a name of many meanings... LOL :-)

Here are some latest snaps of Prakriti:

A Princess is Born

Our little angel was born on Sunday, Feb 20th at 8:02 AM IST.

She weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces and was 16 inches long. She is such an amazing little girl and we are so blessed to have her.

It was a Teraph (household deity) festival (குல தெய்வ திருவிழா) at our ancestral place (Elayampalayam, a hamlet near Salem). We feel happy about it - we've always had a providential association with the temple on every major occasions in our clan.

Here are some pictures of our big day!!!

All good things come to those who wait -  and at last she arrived, the latest rosy apple on the family tree!

Babies do lot of sleeping in their first few days, and she was no exception.
